Art Linkletter made famous the phrase “kids say the darndest things.”
At local schools that remains true.
The Boca Raton News interviewed students for reaction to a district-wide initiative offered at some elementary schools called staggered start. The initiative places students into small groups alternating days during the first and second week of school allowing students to attend class once a week with six or seven children.
“Yuk. I won’t be able to watch my TV,” said five-year-old Dayna Winograd, a kindergarten student at Sandpiper Shores Elementary School. “I’ll miss my TV And I have a unicorn and a horse and beta fish named Blue and Butterfly at home.”
Dayna said she’d also miss playing with her favorite toys.
“I like to play Barbie and my computer, Barbie online and the Disney channel. I like Charlie and Lola and Raven,” Winograd said.
“I won’t be able to go in the pool, or play with (the red dog) Clifford,” Camryn Koval, 5, said.
Tom Levine, another kindergarten student at Sandpiper Shores Elementary wishes he could watch his favorite television shows, which are on the same time he’s at school.
“I’d be watching Power Rangers and Ninja Turtles and I won’t be able to watch it because it comes on at eight in the morning,” said the 5-year-old boy.
